PORTAGE | A handful of employees at Bass Pro Shops lost their jobs Friday as the two-year-old store underwent employee restructuring.

Manager Jim Osborne said "under 1 percent" of the part- and full-time employees were notified Friday that they were no longer employed. He did not give details as to the exact number of employees laid off or which departments were affected.

"We have some restructuring going on in our business," said Osborne, adding that employees have been reassigned to different jobs.

The restructuring necessitated the elimination of certain positions.

Osborne said the company, which is doing well despite the economy, attempted to complete the restructuring to minimize layoffs.
