RESTON, Va. -- Shipments of recreational vehicles dropped 7.1 percent in February, continuing a decline that began in 2006.

A total of 27,600 units were shipped in February, down 7.1 percent from the 29,700 RVs shipped in 2007, according to the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association. Motorhomes fell 23.9 percent while towables slipped 4.0 percent.

Year-to-date, the numbers were similar, with motorhomes down 22.7 percent and towables down 4.2 percent.

Class C motorhomes were the only units to see improvement in year-to-date results, increasing 3.7 percent.
