Two northeast Indiana employers were among 16 companies that on Thursday announced plans to create more than 2,000 total jobs in Indiana.

Deister Machine Co. expects to create up to 110 new jobs by 2018 as it invests $2.8 million in a 750-ton press brake and two CNC or computer numerical control machines.

Fort Wayne-based Deister Machine makes vibrating equipment for the mining, quarrying and aggregate industries. The family-owned company, which now employs 181, has already begun hiring.

Also, Bluffton Motor Works is investing $3.6 million to add a new line of swimming pool motors, as The Journal Gazette reported Oct. 29. Officials said the Bluffton manufacturer will create up to 70 new jobs by 2017.

Gov. Mike Pence gathered employers and economic development officials in Indianapolis on Thursday for the blockbuster jobs announcement. A total of 2,153 jobs are expected to be created, he said.

Indiana Economic Development Corp. officials say 2014 has been a record-breaking year with 285 companies announcing plans to invest $4.38 billion in Indiana operations and create 25,317 new jobs.
