Wabash County residents will have new representatives in the U.S. and Indiana Houses of Represenatives, and some will have a new state senator if redistricting plans unveiled hold true.

The county, now in the 5th U.S. Congressional District, would move to the 2nd District under the plan, released Monday by Republicans.

Meanwhile, the county would move from the current 22nd District in the Indiana House to the 18th District. Residents in PawPaw and Pleasant townships, now in the Indiana Senate’s 18th District, would move to the 17th District.

“I’ll be very pleased to represent PawPaw and Pleasant townships,” State Sen. Jim Banks told the Plain Dealer on Tuesday.

Banks, a freshman lawmaker, represents all of Wabash County except the two townships in the Indiana Senate. PawPaw and Pleasant townships are now represented by State Sen. Randy Head.

The move would put all of Wabash County in the 17th District.
