Indiana University, IU Health combined are state's largest employer

Indiana University and IU Health combined are the largest employer in the state of Indiana, responsible for one out of every 35 jobs in the state.

The university ($4.9 billion) and its hospital and health care affiliate ($6.6 billion) create $11.5 billion in total economic impact annually — $5.9 billion in direct expenditures and $5.6 billion in indirect or induced spending.

Some 100,031 jobs are supported by IU and IU Health, including 48,147 jobs at campuses, hospitals and clinics and another 51,884 in communities across the state, attributable to IU spending.
