Construction on the first stretch of the section of Interstate 69 that will enter Monroe County will begin in 2012, according to the Indiana Department of Transportation.

Crider and Crider Inc., a Bloomington-based construction company, won the low bid on Segment 1 of Section 4 of the interstate project. The company’s bid of $26,883,500 was 20 percent lower than the engineer’s estimate, according to an INDOT news release.
