WASHINGTON — A push by conservatives to threaten a government shutdown unless funding is blocked for Obamacare is coming Monday to Indianapolis.

It’s the last stop on a nine-state tour to generate momentum for the effort before Congress returns from its summer break and before a major part of the health care law begins in October.

“We have an opportunity to change the direction of our nation by defunding Obamacare and advancing conservative policy solutions that will help place us back on the path toward fiscal responsibility,” said Jim DeMint, president of the Heritage Foundation and a former senator from South Carolina.

The think tank’s political arm, Heritage Action for America, is ending its “Defund Obamacare Tour” at 7 p.m. Monday at the Hilton Indianapolis Hotel & Suites, 120 West Market St.
