MUNCIE — The community is losing another glassmaker.

Ardagh Group, the latest incarnation of Saint-Gobain and Verallia, will close its Muncie headquarters and relocate to the Indianapolis suburb of Fishers, the company confirmed Thursday.

"While the date has not yet been finalized, the Muncie office will close no later than the end of the year," Ardagh said in a statement released to The Star Press.

Ardagh Group employs more than 200 people at its South Macedonia Avenue offices in Muncie.

"With a few exceptions under consideration for relocation to our Marion facility, the remainder of our Muncie employees will be based out of the new Fishers office," Ardagh added.

Not affected by the change are Ardagh's glass manufacturing plants in Dunkirk and Winchester or the company's facility in Marion.

Ardagh Group said it employs about 1,100 people in Indiana.
