Gov. Mitch Daniels expects Purdue University and other state higher education institutions to continue cutting overhead in 2011 to help meet the state's financial straits.

Daniels spoke with reporters Monday about his expectations for the coming year. Keeping the state budget in the black was at the heart of many of his initiatives.

"I am optimistic to continue managing our fiscal affairs successfully," he said. "Essentially we will be seeking to hold the line on spending, (basically) freeze it."
