Heartland RV, a subsidiary of Thor Industries, is expanding with the purchase of a 65-acre plot of land in the Fawn River Crossing Industrial Park just north of Howe.

Heartland has already started building a new 52,200-square-foot, state-of-the-art recreational vehicle service center, warehouse and executive office space on the property directly adjacent to the Indiana Toll Road. The project will create at least 15 new jobs, according to the LaGrange County Economic Development Corp.

With economic and industry experts forecasting significant growth in RV sales in the next 15 to 20 years, the plans at Fawn River Industrial Park in Howe become a critical component of a long-term expansion strategy.

Larry Miller, President of the LaGrange County Commissioners and a member of the LaGrange County EDC board, said he is very encouraged by the recent developments.

“It’s impossible to deny the economic development momentum building in LaGrange County, and this project is a strong indication of that,” Miller said. “Heartland RV’s purchase of the remaining land at Fawn River Crossing Industrial Park is particularly meaningful as it took many years of planning, land preparation, marketing and significant public investment to make it possible. This project should send a strong message to other companies that LaGrange County is open for business.”

Ryne Krock, president and CEO of the EDC, said the area has more to celebrate beyond the jobs and capital investment the project brings.

“For the first time in approximately five years, we can proudly say that all of Fawn River Crossing Industrial Park is privately-owned and back on the county tax rolls," he said. "We are encouraged by this project and potentially additional development by Heartland RV in LaGrange County in the future.”

The project is already underway and officials expect construction to be completed in late spring. The new facility will be fully-staffed and operational by June 1.
