Five positions at Community Howard Regional Heath’s West Campus Specialty Hospital were recently cut and the responsibilities assumed by administrators at the hospital’s main Kokomo campus.

Sue Yeskie, interim marketing director at the hospital, said the eliminated positions were in nutrition and food services, housekeeping, human resources, plant operations and security.

She said the positions were assumed by current administrators at the main campus in order to ensure “continuity of services” at the West Campus Specialty Hospital.

“This will create better care for our patients,” Yeskie said. “The main focus will always be what’s best for patients.”

The layoffs come after Community Howard cut 50 full-time positions in September.

The hospital said in a press release the lower staffing levels would allow Community Howard Regional Health to stay consistent with its mission to provide exceptional quality care while operating in a financially sound manner.
