Thanks to a partnership with PRX Energy, Ivy Tech Community College statewide will spend roughly $350,000 less on natural gas from October 2015 through September 2016 than it did last year, when it spent about $2 million.

“We determined that now was a pretty good time,” said PRX Energy President Gregg Shively, “because gas prices are fairly low heading into the summer.”

According to Shively, Ivy Tech entered into a consortium with the University of Indianapolis, Franklin College, Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College, Taylor University and Earlham College. Then, the independent energy consulting company was able to complete a competitive reverse auction for the natural gas supply.
