JEFFERSONVILLE — The map showing land deals and negotiations at River Ridge Commerce Center is growing more cluttered each month.

"Almost every day, we're getting an inquiry or visit or some kind of interest," Executive Director Jerry Acy said.

The River Ridge Development Authority unanimously agreed during a special meeting Monday to negotiate the sale of an 80-acre tract of land that could hold a total of 1.6 million square feet of industrial or commercial space, possibly in more than one building but for a single tenant. The land is going for $60,000 an acre.

The site is between Paul Garrett Avenue and River Ridge Parkway, adjacent to a future road that will connect to the Ind. 265/Old Salem Road interchange. It's also right across the street from another 80-acre site that could hold a 1.5 million-square-foot building, which would beat out the Amazon Fulfillment Center for largest single building at the commerce center.

Acy attributes the interest in part to limited land availability in the Louisville Metropolitan Area.

"We've got thankfully, as of today, still a significant amount of land available for development," he said.

The board also passed a resolution that would allow River Ridge to negotiate the sale of a 5.2-acre site next to Autoneum along Ind. 62 to be used for commercial or retail space. The land would be sold for $120,000 per acre.
