New home construction in Lebanon last year was up 185 percent from 2014, with more than half of those new dwellings built in the Auburn Meadows subdivision on the city’s north side.

Derek Warren, interim director of the city’s planning and zoning department, unveiled the information at the board of works and public safety’s meeting Monday.

“In 2015, 26 new single-family residential permits were issued,” Warren said. “That was up from 14 in 2014.”

Auburn Meadows, east of Elm Swamp Road near County Road 300 North, was the site of 19 new homes, Warren said. Auburn Meadows was platted in December 2005, but construction lagged as the economy softened during the Great Recession.

Four homes were built in Lakeside Crossing, formerly called Daniels Crossing, Warren said. Boone County Habitat for Humanity built three homes, he said.

Four new addresses were added to the Meadow Wings subdivision on CR 250 N, west of state Route 39, Warren said. The pair of two-family buildings built in 2015 were one fewer than in 2014.

The city will add 42 apartments through The Flats at Memory Hall, he said, in two buildings at 223 N. Meridian St. and 317 N. Lebanon St. Each building has 15 two-bedroom units and six one-bedroom units.
