INDIANAPOLIS -- Gov. Mike Pence is now airing TV ads in Fort Wayne, Indianapolis and Lafayette urging the repeal of the common construction wage law.

The ads come just days before the legislation gets a key hearing in the Indiana Senate Tax and Fiscal Policy Committee. That hearing is at 8 a.m. Tuesday.

Interestingly, the bill is not part of Pence's legislative agenda.

But his campaign fund is still covering the $250,000 cost of the ads, which will be seen on both broadcast and cable television. Radio spots will be used as well.

Pence campaign spokesman Robert Vane said the ads represent the governor's commitment to getting the bill passed. There are no other ads currently planned for other issues.

“The Common Construction law is outdated and costs Hoosier taxpayers millions in additional building costs," Pence said. “It is time we repeal this law and give local schools and government the opportunity to find the best cost for their projects.”
