Wholesale shipments of recreational vehicles surged in June to their highest level in more than two years, according to the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association.

Manufacturers delivered 27,100 RVs to retailers, a 10 percent increase over May and a 72.6 percent improvement over June 2009. This marked the 10th consecutive month of shipments outpacing the same month one year earlier.

Other June numbers:

 * 24,600 towables delivered to retailers

* 16,700 travel trailers were shipped, the most of any towable class.

* 2,500 motorhomes shipped

* 1,200 Class A shipped, the most of any motorhome category.

Year-to-date, a total of 136,000 units have been shipped. This trumps the 72,700 RVs delivered during the same period in 2009 but lags the 162,500 sent in 2008.
