A team led by an international conglomerate has been selected to design, build, maintain and operate Section 5 of Interstate 69 that will run between Bloomington and Martinsville along the Ind. 37 corridor.

The Indiana Finance Authority Board announced the preliminary award this morning in Indianapolis to I-69 Development Partners, which will be led by Isolux Infrastructure Netherlands B.V. The team's bid to design and build Section 5 was $325 million, which was lower than the engineer's estimate of $347 million.

However, under terms of the preliminary contract, the state will make fixed annual payments of $21.8 million over 35 years for the 21-mile stretch of new interstate, for a total cost of $763 million by the end of the contract. During that period, Isolux and its partners will maintain, repair and operate the roadway.
