Indiana legislators so far have filed more than 300 bills in the Senate and close to 90 in the House for the current session of the Indiana General Assembly, which started Tuesday.

Monroe County legislators have been pretty quiet in the first two days, but state Sen. Brent Steele, R-Bedford, already has authored 18 bills. State Sen. Mark Stoops, D-Bloomington, has filed one bill — to designate a state fossil. The only area representative to author anything so far is state Rep. Eric Koch, R-Bedford, with one piece of legislation concerning taxation of civil service annuities.

Bill filing will continue for about another week, but here’s a look at some of the eye-catching legislation so far. If some of it sounds familiar from last year, that’s because it is.

House Bill 1026: As expected, this is the bill that would allow carryout Sunday alcohol sales. It’s authored by state Rep. Sean Eberhart, R-Shelbyville, who introduced similar legislation last year.
