Legislation seeking to limit the expansion of I-Light, Indiana's optical-fiber telecommunications network for research and education, is raising concerns.

Republican state Sen. Travis Holdman (Markle) has authored one of two bills this session that would force I-Light to be limited to its current levels but allow for new expansions of Purdue and Indiana universities, Ivy Tech Community College and other schools.

IU and Purdue jointly manage and operate the network, with a goal to reach every public and private college campus in the state with an Ethernet gigabit connection.
