—Evansville-based Old National Bank announced Friday that it intends to close nine former Integra Bank branches and consolidate them into other former Integra facilities.

Old National acquired all 52 of Integra’s branches in an FDIC-assisted takeover of the failed bank on July 29.

The branch closures/consolidations will take place Sept. 30.

Bob Jones, Old National’s president and chief executive officer, said Old National looked at the customer traffic at each former Integra branch, and the distance between those branches, to decide which locations to close.

The employees at the branches being closed next month will all be “placed in a comparable position” at another former Integra branch, Jones said.

Customers and employees should expect more closures in months to come, Jones said.

“There will be additional consolidations, we just don’t know which ones.”

As of now, Old National is still working to consolidate its computer systems with those at the former Integra locations. What this means, said Jones, is that former Integra customers still must do business at a former Integra branch because the computer systems at those locations aren’t yet compatible with Old National’s systems.

Once the computer-system conversion is finished in December, Jones said, additional branch closures will be announced.

Staff reductions will also be announced at that time, Jones said.

It’s still uncertain how many former Integra employees will be left jobless when those staff cuts take effect.

Jones said 44 former Integra associates — about 10 percent of Integra’s former work force — has already applied for and been offered new jobs with Old National. A number of others are either going through the application process for an Old National job or have left for a job with another company, Jones said.

Customer account information from each of the nine former Integra branches will be consolidated into another former Integra office. Safe deposit boxes will move to Old National facilities.

A list of the former Integra branches to close on Sept. 30 follows.
