Montgomery County Economic Development Corp. announces leadership change

Journal Review

The board of directors of the Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation announced that Bill Henderson is no longer employed as the executive director of the organization.

As MCED executive director, Henderson was responsible for managing MCED staff and directing countywide economic development efforts. He resides in Montgomery County. He has led the MCED team since 2005.

“I would like to express gratitude for Bill’s dedication and service to this organization,” said Rusty Carter, MCED board president. “We appreciate everything he has done for our community over the past seven years.”

During Henderson’s tenure at MCED, the community saw the creation of an Ivy Tech Community College site, the SkillsNet Industry Consortium, the deployment of and obtained a Shovel Ready designation for the Crawfordsville Commerce Park.

The MCED is moving in a new direction to optimize growth opportunities for the community, Carter said. MCED, Montgomery County Council/Commissioners, and City of Crawfordsville officials have been working through a planning process to align job attraction, retention and organic business growth efforts since the beginning of the year.

Carter said the MCED board is beginning an immediate search for Henderson’s replacement.
