MUNCIE -- Imagine a time when athletic talent alone might not be enough to earn a roster spot. Mom and Dad's checkbook might need to be deep enough, as well.

In another scenario, feeder systems are ravaged as your child's journey to a varsity roster spot includes less participation and less preparedness along the way as freshmen and junior varsity programs fall victim to the school district's dire need to cut costs.

While not there yet, facing these quandaries could soon be the plight of the Muncie Community Schools board of trustees.
