Monroe County unemployment rate jumps for January 2010

Monroe County’s unemployment rate jumped to 7 percent in January, rising from 6 percent a month earlier, according to state data released today.

The county’s rate is still much lower than state and national averages, which have been relatively steady in recent months, data shows. Monroe County has the second lowest unemployment rate in the state.
