The White County Board of Commissioners met Monday in a special joint session with the County Council to discuss economic development payments from Meadow Lake Wind Farm phase II.

A total of $640,000 was received from Horizon Wind Energy, part of a tax abatement and economic development agreement between the company and White County.

"This is pretty much based on the blueprint we used for phase 1," said Board of Commissioners President John Heimlich as he reviewed how the payment would be allocated. "We thought this was a close starting point, anyway."

The economic development payment will be divided amongst the townships, schools and libraries affected by Meadow Lake phase II.

The allocation was approved by both the council and commissioners; the next economic development payment, from Meadow Lake phase I, is expected April 15.
