INDIANAPOLIS — Gov. Eric Holcomb next month will embark on trade missions to Israel and Europe, pursuing economic development opportunities for Indiana businesses and hoping to persuade foreign companies to bring jobs to the Hoosier State.

The Republican chief executive plans to promote Indiana agriculture and biosciences when he visits Israel between May 6 and 11.

Holcomb is scheduled to speak at the 20th annual Agritech Israel Conference, as well as participate in private meetings with business, industry, research and Israeli government leaders.

The governor will lead a separate Hoosier delegation to Europe on May 18 for planned meetings with government officials and business executives from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France and Slovakia.

He'll return to Indiana on May 25 on the inaugural Delta Air Lines nonstop flight from Paris to Indianapolis that Holcomb has championed as a critical link connecting Indiana businesses with global markets.

"Indiana is a global economy," Holcomb said. "To take our business climate to the next level, we must continue building international relationships and nurturing opportunities that attract more great jobs to our state and bring more Hoosier-made goods and services to the world."

The May trips will be Holcomb's fifth and sixth international trade missions as governor. He last year traveled to Europe, Japan and India, and visited Canada in March.

The costs of the state delegation are paid by private donations to the Indiana Economic Development Foundation.
