Grand Park construction is scheduled to begin this year and officials hope the sports complex will be ready to play in next year. The sports complex is a planned 300-acre development destined to become a family destination like no other.

Grand Park will feature a full-range of championship-level facilities for baseball, softball, soccer, lacrosse, football, rugby and field hockey. It will include 26 outdoor baseball and softball diamonds and 32 outdoor fields for the other sports. Fields and diamonds include turf and grass playing surfaces.

"Building on Indiana's long and storied sports tradition, Grand Park will be a premier location for athletes, visitors and the local community," Westfield Mayor Andy Cook said, adding that the city's Grand Junction project, 52 miles of trails and U.S. 31 construction project will all be incorporated with Grand Park.

Cook said the fields will be surrounded by dining, retail and entertainment venues - all geared toward supporting and enhancing the family sports atmosphere and experience. The community sports and recreation campus will occupy 300 acres. The surrounding 1,400 acres will be privately developed to include restaurants, shops, businesses and entertainment.

"We will have all the amenities - hotels, restaurants, medical facilities - for a four to five day tournament it'll be a one-stop spot," said Cook. "The private sector will want to be here."

Grand Park is planned to be located on U.S. 31 and Indiana 32 with 196th Street and Spring Mill Road providing the north and west borders, respectively.
