JASPER — Dubois Strong, formerly the Dubois County Area Development Corp., held its inaugural meeting under its new name Thursday at Memorial Lodge. President Jim Dinkle said the renamed group is putting an emphasis on entrepreneurship.
Dinkle, Chairman Mike Schwenk and others spoke to a crowd of about 180 people about the DCADC’s past successes and what the future has in store for Dubois Strong and Dubois County.
Schwenk, executive vice president of production at Jasper Engines & Transmissions, spoke about the corporation’s beginnings in 2004. The DCADC was created as a partnership between local officials and businessmen to coordinate economic development activities for the county.
“Dubois County has always been a strong county,” Schwenk said, explaining the DCADC’s name change. The DCADC had considered a new name for a while, Dinkle said, and the word “strong” kept surfacing in discussions about the county’s economic standings and residents’ work ethic. The group worked with Jenny Neff and Angelo Lagdameo of In Form Design of Jasper to create a new, more assertive approach to economic development in the county, Dinkle said.
The corporation announced its rebranding in mid-March. Dubois Strong has a new black-and-white logo as well as an entirely new strategy, marketing campaign and website, which went online at 8 a.m. today.
