Arden to close Kendallville plant, costing 45 jobs

Arden Companies told Kendallville officials Monday it will close its Kendallville plant June 29, with 45 employees losing their jobs, The News Sun in Kendallville reported.

Mayor Suzanne Handshoe said she received notice of the closing from the company’s Fort Wayne division. She has attempted to get more information from the company’s corporate headquarters in Bingham Farms, Mich.

Arden operates in a 65,000-square-foot building at 230 Progress Drive East in Kendallville’s East Industrial Park. Workers at the plant cut fabric, sew and finish outdoor cushions for the high-end outdoor furniture market.

Arden has facilities in Fort Wayne, Amarillo, Texas, Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., Sanford, N.C., China and Taiwan, according to its website.
