The Indiana Arts Commission has announced guidelines are now available for application to its cultural districts certification program.

Communities interested in applying for consideration must first submit a letter of intent to apply, postmarked no later than Aug. 28. The deadline to complete the application process is 4:30 p.m. Oct. 2.

By the IAC’s definition, a cultural district is a well-recognized, labeled, mixed-use area of a community, in which high concentrations of cultural assets serve as the anchor. Indiana Statewide Cultural Districts promote the exploration of and participation in the arts and humanities through cultural experiences that are unique to communities. Indiana Statewide Cultural Districts support community life and economic vitality.
