Tate & Lyle is investing more than $90 million in its Lafayette operations over the next three years, the company announced Tuesday in London.
The three-phase expansion should be completed by 2017.
“We’d like to thank the state of Indiana and the city of Lafayette for their ongoing support of these projects and look forward to our continued relationship with them,” said Olivier Rigaud, president of specialty food ingredients at Tate & Lyle.
The company, which provides ingredients to food, beverage and other industries, operates two plants in Lafayette. The investment will allow for an expansion of the North Plant on Sagamore Parkway to increase modified food starch production. The South Plant, near Veterans Memorial Parkway, will be upgraded to increase efficiency.
About 10 positions will be added to the Lafayette workforce, which currently includes more than 500 positions, according to the company.
