WHITESTOWN
— A $6 million apartment complex will be constructed in Whitestown.

A permit for the 13-building, 93unit project was issued in June, said Deborah Luzier, head of the Whitestown planning and zoning department.

The complex will be built west of the Clark Meadows subdivision, on the north side of New Hope Boulevard in Anson, she said.

“It will have two phases, and this is the first phase,” she said.

Whitestown in June narrowly missed setting monthly records for both the number of building permits, and permit fees collected.

Of the 45 building permits, 25 were for single family homes, with an average value of $204,242, Town Manager Dax Norton told the town council at its July 8 regular meeting. A record 46 permits were issued in November 2013.

The $84,188 in fees collected in June was also second to the $117,568 record set in November 2013.

“It was a good month, again,” Norton said.

Through June, Whitestown averaged 29 monthly permits, making 2014 its busiest year ever.

The Clark Meadows and Eagles Nest subdivisions had the most activity, with nine and seven new home permits respectively; the Clark Meadows homes averaged $235,666; the Eagles Nest homes averaged $191,332.

Six permits, with an average value of $155,633, were issued for new homes in the Walker Farms subdivision.

Through June, more than a third of the town’s new home permits were for Walker Farms residences; 30 percent of the new homes were being built in Eagles Nest.
