ALBANY — The longtime license branch in the town of Albany is slated to close in a few weeks, the state has told local officials.
The Albany branch will close and its operations will be folded into the Muncie branch, the Bureau of Motor Vehicles recently told area lawmakers.
“I write to inform you that the Bureau of Motor Vehicles has made the decision to permanently close the Albany Satellite Branch and consolidate its operations with the Muncie Branch effective Aug. 27,” the BMV wrote to local legislators in the past week.
No public announcement of the closing has been made, but The Star Press obtained a copy of the July 18 letter from BMV Commissioner Donald Snemis to state Sen. Tim Lanane, D-Anderson, Rep. Sue Errington, D-Muncie, and other legislators.
