Kosciusko County Council approved a tax abatement for RR Donnelley during a special meeting Thursday.

The company requested the personal property waiver earlier this month for an investment of more than $20 million in new printing and binding equipment. The investment is meant to attract new customers to the printing company as it finds footing again following the 2008 recession, according to Vice President of Manufacturing John Pierog.

He thanked the council for calling the special meeting to speed up the process.

“It’s important to our company; time is our friend in what we hope to accomplish,” he said.

The investment is expected to retain 35 jobs and add another 75. The Chicago-based company has had a presence in Warsaw for about 50 years, where it employs nearly 800 people  – half of whom have worked there for 25 years or more.
