MUNCIE – Ball State University is expecting international enrollment to exceed 1,000 students for the second consecutive year.
Saudi Arabia sent the most students (434) to Ball State last year followed by China with 304, South Korea with 46, Canada with 32, India with 29, Japan and Afghanistan with 13 each, Brazil with 12, the United Kingdom with 10 and, rounding out the top 10, Tajikistan with nine.
“We had 1,034 international students for 2013-2014 and expect to exceed 1,000 students again in 2014-2015, which meets the strategic plan performance indicator for 1,000 international students,” BSU spokeswoman Joan Todd said. “We are expecting about 270 new international students this fall, but at this time we don’t have a hard number of international students who are returning.”
When former Ball State President Jo Ann Gora arrived on campus a decade ago, foreign-student enrollment stood at 304.
