A coalition plans to distribute 1,500 bags full of information next month to promote good neighbor behavior between Ball State University students living off campus and Muncie residents.

Parking, litter and noise from parties are among the chief concerns of Muncie residents.

"I think in my neighborhood, the relationship is decent and largely neighborly," said Matt Bailey," who represents the Westridge neighborhood and is a a member of the the Ball State University Campus Community Coalition. "I converse with my nearest student neighbors often and have been in their house, and they have been to mine — most often to borrow a snow shovel."

When there are issues, they usually relate to violation of the noise ordinance or codes governing parking, he said.

Ball State's fall semester begins Monday.
