Indiana State Excise Police officers arrested 71 people on 88 charges in Muncie over the course of the weekend before the start of classes at Ball State University.

On Friday, 47 people were arrested on 49 charges, including illegal possession of alcohol, false statement of age and resisting law enforcement. (An earlier report listed only 45 people arrested.)

Brennen Kreig, 18, Portland, was jailed after he fled from police near the intersection of Neely and New York. Kreig was apprehended after a foot chase and preliminarily charged with illegal possession of alcohol and resisting law enforcement.

Of those arrested Friday, four adults were charged with furnishing alcohol to minors.

On Saturday, 24 people were arrested on 39 charges, including resisting law enforcement, illegal possession of alcohol, furnishing alcohol to a minor, possession of false ID, misuse of license, minor in tavern, false informing and false statement of age.
