NEW ALBANY – With a promise of 82 jobs to be added over the next three years, the New Albany City Council approved tax abatements for three companies Thursday.

Advance Fabricators Inc., Bruce Fox Inc. and L & D Mail Masters garnered the tax breaks based on expansion and renovation plans each company has scheduled.

Advance Fabricators has pledged to add up to 20 jobs by 2017 with an investment of $2.15 million. A renovation of the company’s facility and the addition of work stations will be completed through the expansion.

Advance Fabricators was founded in 1975, and offers design and build services for companies that handle bulk materials.

“Advance Fabricators is proud to expand in Indiana for many reasons,” Advance Fabricators owner Gary Ragsdale said.

“Indiana has a solid record supporting small and large business. Indiana maintains a state that is economically sound and allows businesses to operate knowing the future holds great opportunity.”

A five-year abatement was awarded to Advance Fabricators.

Bruce Fox — which has manufactured trophies for many national sporting events and competitions — plans to add 22 new jobs by 2017 through its renovations.

The company aims to invest $1 million to update its 30,000 square-foot facility off Foundation Boulevard in New Albany.

The company has 80 full-time workers.

“For over 75 years, our New Albany employees have proved themselves to be some of the finest artists, designers, fabricators, and craftsmen in the country,” said Gary Parks, chief operating officer at Bruce Fox, in a news release.

“We are proud of their efforts and accomplishments and look forward to the future as we reach out to new market and growth opportunities.”

The company received a 10-year abatement.

L & D Mail Masters plans to add eight jobs at an average of $13 an hour. The company will upgrade its equipment through a $2.1 million investment.

A two-year abatement was also approved by the council for SM Ten Properties, LLC. The company plans to add eight new jobs by occupying a vacant building off Grant Line Road.
