Y. Charlie Hu is on a mission to find ways to minimize energy consumption, and extend the battery life of smartphones.
Hu recently created a free app named Estar that shows how quickly other apps will drain a smartphone battery, and offers energy efficient alternatives.
Hu is a professor in the Purdue University school of electrical and computer engineering.
Healso is CEO and co-founder of Mobile Enerlytics, a startup company in the Purdue Research Park.
The Journal & Courier asked Hu to describe his work, and how Estar works.
Question: What prompted you to found your company, Mobile Enerlytics, LLC, and focus on the development of technologies that extend smartphone battery life?
