MainGate has reached an exclusive agreement to produce official apparel for more than 25,000 volunteers at NCAA championship sports events, the Indianapolis-based merchandising company announced Tuesday.

Under the new contract, MainGate will create a complete line of apparel and merchandise for committee members and the volunteers for the NCAA’s 89 championships starting with the 2014-15 academic year.

Contract details were not disclosed, but an industry source said the deal was worth at least a million dollars to MainGate.

As part of the agreement, MainGate will set up an internal e-commerce portal for the Indianapolis-based NCAA to place orders for their volunteer program.

“MainGate’s history of working with very large-scale sporting events and their turnkey capabilities were critical factors in the NCAA choosing to partner with them,” said Jeff Jarnecke, director of championships and alliances at the NCAA, in a prepared statement.

MainGate has merchandising agreements with numerous sports organizations and is merchandise partner with five NFL teams, including the Indianapolis Colts. It also manages NFL game-day merchandising operations at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ford Field in Detroit, FedExField in Washington, D.C., TCF Bank Stadium in Minnesota and LP Field in Nashville.
