A mortgage services firm plans to expand its operations to a facility in Westfield, creating up to 360 jobs by 2019.

Carrington Mortgage Services LLC, a mortgage origination and servicing company based in Santa Ana, California, said Thursday that it would spend $3.2 million to renovate and equip a 77,000-square-foot facility that it would lease in Westfield.

The firm currently employs about 180 people in its offices at 10500 Kincaid Drive in Fishers. Those employees would move to the new facility, according to the company. The new jobs planned by Carrington would be in addition to the Fishers employees.

A spokeswomen for Carrington said shortly before IBJ deadline Thursday that the firm was declining to reveal the location of the Westfield facility until a more formal announcement at a later date.

The facility is expected to be operational by the end of the year. The firm currently is hiring customer service representatives, servicing specialists, sales and marketing professionals, and underwriters for the Westfield location.

Carrington employs more than 1,000 associates across the country.

“Indiana’s cost-competitive business environment and the strength of the central Indiana workforce made Westfield an ideal location for Carrington to continue to grow,” said John Alkire, executive vice president of Carrington Mortgage, in a prepared release.

The Indiana Economic Development Corp. has offered Carrington up to $3.65 million in conditional tax credits based on the firm’s job-creation plans. The credits are performance-based, meaning they cannot be claimed until workers are hired.

The city of Westfield is considering a property tax abatement for the project, according to an IEDC news release.

The IEDC release described the jobs as “high wage” but did not provide specific wage or salary figures. Carrington did not provide the information when asked by IBJ.
