MISHAWAKA -- A second IronWorks building is planned and could get under way yet this fall along the Mishawaka riverfront.

It would mean more retail and restaurant space near downtown.

More room for offices.

And new luxury apartment units would be offered on the third floor, with the residences overlooking the river and Beutter Park.

The 9,800-square-foot proposed building, which would be located on the southwest corner of Mill Street and IronWorks Avenue, would be ready for occupancy in the fall of 2015.

"The goal from day one has been to extend the historic downtown to the riverfront. For decades, no one saw the river," says Dennis Murphy, president and owner of Concept Creations Development in Mishawaka, which isIronWorks.

As many as three stores and restaurants would occupy the first floor at the new building, which would be adjacent to the existing IronWorks building. A drive-through would be constructed for a possible restaurant tenant who has been talking with the developer.
