Purdue's Board of Trustees decided Wednesday morning to give President Mitch Daniels $110,880 in performance pay, or 88 percent of the total possible $126,000 he could have earned.

The amount depended on how the trustees sized up his ability to reach certain goals in key areas.

Mike Berghoff, chairman of the trustees' compensation committee, said Daniels came closest to meeting goals of increasing graduation rates and reducing student debt.

But Berghoff said the one area where Daniels fell short was fundraising.

Daniels is traveling in India and was not immediately available for comment.
