PERU – The Indiana State Police Peru Post says it has eradicated around $6 million of marijuana plants since March.
The post, which covers Howard, Miami, Tipton, Cass, Fulton, Grant and Wabash counties, released its marijuana eradication statistics Wednesday.
Police say officers working within the seven-county district eradicated 5,064 marijuana plants and recovered approximately 8 pounds of processed marijuana between March and October. They also seized $22,800 worth of assets utilized in the illegal cultivation of marijuana.
Of the 5,064 plants eradicated, 404 were found as part of indoor marijuana growing operations. The 8 pounds of processed marijuana were also found during the take down of indoor marijuana growing operations.
The majority of the indoor growing operations were located during joint narcotics investigations with local police departments.
Police said the 5,064 recovered marijuana plants would have produced between approximately 3,000 and 5,000 pounds of marijuana if they had been processed. The marijuana would have had an approximate street value of $6 million.
