As a means of comparison, here is a list of 2014-2015 tuition and fees at some other four-year universities, with figures from U.S. News & World Report:

* University of Michigan: $13,977 in-state; $41,811 out-of-state
* Purdue University: $13,382 in-state; $28,804 out-of-state
* Indiana University Bloomington: $10,388 in-state; $33,241 out-of-state.
SOUTH BEND — It’s getting a little more expensive to attend the University of Notre Dame.
Undergraduate tuition and fees at Notre Dame will increase 3.7 percent for the 2015-16 academic year to $47,929, the university announced this week.
Average room and board rates of $13,846 will bring total student charges to $61,775.
The university said the 3.7 percentage increase in tuition and fees is the lowest at Notre Dame since 1960, when there was no increase. Tuition has increased 3.8 percent in each of the past three years.
