Citing growing demand for its towable RVs, Middlebury-based Grand Design RV plans a plant expansion that will create 35 new jobs paying an average $35 hourly rate, the company announced Friday, March 20.

The 65,000-square foot addition in the middle structure of its C.R. 2 complex will double the size of the company’s lamination facility, where sidewalls, ceilings and aluminum frames are made, said president and CEO Don Clark.

The news comes a year after Grand Design experienced another growth spurt. From January through the end of February 2014, it hired 70 new workers, and in March 2014, it added a third production line that was expected to create 65 more jobs.

Friday’s announcement will bring the plant’s total employment to about 670.
