Two Purdue University campuses are merging, and they're looking for a new nickname.
Purdue University North Central in Westville and Purdue University Calumet in Hammond are in the process of unifying into one university operating at two sites. With the merger, a new nickname is needed for the two-campus institution and its athletic teams.
There's a list of 12 nicknames being considered. The possible nicknames are the Purdue Northwest Beacons, Bearcats, Blast, Blazer, Bobcats, Duneblazers, Force, Golden Phoenix, Power, Pride, Steamrollers or Steelheads.
