KENDALLVILLE — Two industrial maintenance certification-based classes involving eight companies and 25 employees begin Monday at the Impact Institute in Kendallville.

The classes are part of the Skill-Link program, an initiative of Northeast Indiana Works that offers certification-based training tailored to employers’ specific skill needs. Employers select high-potential employees for the training, which promotes talent retention, career pathway development, and in many cases leads to promotions and pay increases.

WorkOne Northeast, meanwhile, assists employers in filling positions left open by the promotion of employees who complete Skill-Link training.

Interest in the Skill-Link classes is reflective of a growing need for skilled workers throughout northeast Indiana, especially for manufacturing positions such as industrial maintenance, welding and machining.

The Noble County Economic Development Corp. assisted Northeast Indiana Works in setting up the two Noble County industrial maintenance classes. Ivy Tech Corporate College is providing the instruction.

Participating employers are Ashley Industrial Molding Inc.; Bosch Corp.; Busche Enterprise Corp.; Carlex Glass; Dow Corning Corp.; Millennium Industries Corp.; No-Sag Products Corp.; and QSI Automation Inc.
