JASPER — Jasper was named as one of America’s top 100 micropolitan cities in 2014, according to Site Selection Magazine.

Jasper tied with 27 others in 74th place. The listing was published in the magazine’s March edition.

A micropolitan, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, is an area that has a core of at least 10,000 people but less than 50,000 people; its adjacent counties have a high level of social and economic integration with the core, which the census measures by commuting patterns.

Six other Indiana cities made Site Magazine’s list: Angola, Frankfort, Huntington, Madison, Seymour and Warsaw. Ten cities in Kentucky, 20 in Ohio, two in Michigan and three in Illinois also made the list. Findlay, Ohio, was first on the list, followed by New Philadelphia-Dover, Ohio, and Cullman, Ala.
