SOUTH BEND — Ivy Tech Community College continues to expand its physical footprint south of downtown.

In a 3-0 vote, the Redevelopment Commission this week donated two more properties to the school for future use.

The properties, consisting of 11 contiguous parcels, encompass the former Sinco and Enyart properties on East Sample and Ohio streets.

The city bought the properties for a combined $345,000 in 2010 with Ivy Tech in mind.

Under the terms of the transfer, Ivy Tech must demolish the buildings on both properties within three years and convert the lots into green space or parking.

Any future use of the land must benefit the public.

Ivy Tech Chancellor Thomas Coley said the newly acquired land may be used for additional parking or classroom space or for student housing.
