BUTLER — Butler’s City Council voted 4-0 to approve a three-year tax abatement petition by Color Master, a maker of industrial colorants, at its May 19 meeting.

The approval — made by Council members Ron Baker, Jerry Eldridge, Eric Johnson and Larry Moore — comes on the heels of a favorable recommendation earlier this month by Butler’s Economic Development Commission. That body recommended a three-year abatement on real property.

Color Master, 810 S. Broadway, plans to add 8,000 square feet of manufacturing space and just over 5,000 square feet of office and product development space to its current building. Color Master employs 62 people in Butler and expects to add at least 10 more jobs, according to CEO Phil Schlink.
